Hello? Hello? Is It Me You’re Looking For?

I love the 80s and I love cheese and perhaps nothing marries these two things in quite the same way as the wonderfully wretched video for Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. Easily this is one of the worst videos of all time (along with Styxx’s “Mr. Roboto” and the hooker dance sequence in Pat Benatar’s “Love is a Battlefield”). The video tells the romantic liason between Richie and a girl who is blind. The video climaxes when she presents Lionel a clay model of his head and tells him, “This is how I see you.” During the filming, legend has it that Lionel created a fit because he thought the clay model did not look enough like him, with which the director responded, “Lionel, the girl is blind!” Now someone has come up the brilliant idea of incorporating the cheesey lyrics of the song to make a “Missing/Lost” poster, which you can download and hang wherever your heart desires. “Tell me what you think of it…This is how I see you.”
