On this ridiculously hot NYC day, nothing can cool me better than a nice smooth remix (of course, I still want the icy cool AC, and even better, a nice frozen cocktail). Luckily for bop2pop, Canadian artist/remixer Le Matos has worked wonders on the already sublime, Last Days of Summer by Johan Agebjorn and his new muse, The Queen of Hearts who we have written about too many times to count. Genius.

Wow, does he not sound like Robert Smith?! I am loving this melancholic mix by Faker, an Idie band from Australia. Dangereous is to be the first single from the new album set to be released in June.

A mix has a myriad of purposes. Sometimes the mix simply extends a song. Sometimes a “hot new” remixer uses it on an established artist to raise his/her profile. Sometimes it’s used strictly for the dance floor. But every once in awhile, something magical happens. The mix completely reinterprets a song, and by doing so, introduces it to a new audiance. This is the case with the RAC remix of Natalie Walker‘s, Cool Kids. It actually makes it “cool”. The original ventures dangerously close to ground already covered by Dido, but the mix increases the tempo and makes it on the playlist for hot summer days, riding in a convertible with the top down, wearing sunglasses and feeling a breeze against your skin.
