Northern Kind – Euphonic and Dreams

May 31, 2011

Synthpop maestros, Northern Kind have returned and are letting their fans know what they have been up to. They are previewing two new tracks, Euphonic and Dreams that will appear on a yet-to-be-untitled third album, scheduled to be released sometime this year. This is a band definitely worth checking out.

Roxy Music Fans Rejoice: Megamix by Soulwax

May 28, 2011

Ok Roxy Music fans, the music you fell in love has just been remixed and lovingly updated, by no other than Soulwax. Of course, best of all, this megamix is available, for free, for you to download and enjoy.

OMG Video: Golden Bug – Sex Beat

May 26, 2011

There is so much testosterone and sexual energy in this song, I could get an std simply by watching it. Spectacular horrific special effects loaded to the nills with sexual innuendo make this video an instant classic! Apparently, some of the aliens are big on breast plates. Perhaps, Rupaul should take note and do a special Drag Race: Alien Edition season. This years Sex On Wheelz.

Faker – Dangerous (CSS remix)

May 26, 2011

Wow, does he not sound like Robert Smith?! I am loving this melancholic mix by Faker, an Idie band from Australia. Dangereous is to be the first single from the new album set to be released in June.

Mirrors Offer Free Ep Download

May 25, 2011

Bop2pop favorite, Mirrors (who I raved about here), are offering a free download of count them, 5 tracks, including the excellent Richard X remix of Into The Heart, simply by becoming a fan of their Facebook page. Fans and converts to be, rejoice, because if you haven’t heard of these guys, this is the perfect introduction to one of the best new synth pop bands around. And let’s face it, I am sure it hurts another “nameless” band to know, Mirrors are the real deal.

Alice Gold – Runaway Love

May 25, 2011

Ok, I am a little late to discover this little ditty that came out a couple months ago, but I am hooked. Not at all synthpop, and rather totally building on the wave of 60’s revival that started with Amy Whinehouse and was fully realized by Adele, Runaway Love by newcomer, Alice Gold adds a french twist, reminiscent of Claudine Longet, who bop2pop just adores. Enjoy

Johan Agebjorn & Ercola ft Queen of Hearts – The Last Day Of Summer

May 24, 2011

When we at bop2pop, first wrote about Queen of Hearts here (and again here and here), we didn’t think our first taste of a full-length video would come instead from her collaboration with Johan Agebjorn, the genious behind bop2pop favorite, Sally Shapiro (who we wrote about here), We, of course, can’t complain because this is a wonderful introduction with a video so amazingly lush and beautiful to watch. The Last Day Of Summer is the second single, but first video by Johan Agebjorn, and appears on his debut album, Casablanca Nights. If you love Sally Shapiro, you will love this.

Starlings – Sirens

May 23, 2011

Great synths abound in this track by Sheffield’s indie disco electro darlings, Starlings. Their debut album is scheduled to be released later this year. If you are not big on the guitar bit, check out the great Sanfernando Remix which I actually prefer over the original.

The Girl and the Robot – Borderline

May 22, 2011

Definitely not a remake of the cheesey Madonna single of the 80’s, The Girl and the Robot (not to be confused by the excellent Royskopp and Robyn collaboration) are back and make the bold move of singing in Swedish with a harder, and dare I say “rockier” sound. Borderline is part of a double cd single, “Silence/Borderline“. It is the first release since their debut, The Beauty of Decay, came out last year.

Daybehavior – Silent Dawn

May 21, 2011

We at bop2pop are especially excited that Swedish Daybehavior are releasing a new single to be included on their long overdue, third album, Follow That Car. For the unconverted, Daybehavior incorporates cinematic dreamscape vocals and haunting melodies that would fit comfortably in a french 1960s spy film soundtrack. In other words, they sound something like what Mono (Life In Mono) would sound like if they never broke up. Although the band has been around for close to 15 years, they have only released 2 proper albums. Last year, they came out of retirement and released 2 excellent tracks, City Of Lights and It’s A Game. Silent Dawn marks the third song to be taken from their forthcoming album.
