Sally Shapiro – All My Life

March 27, 2013

sallyshapiroallofmylife

Italio-disco disco darling, Sally Shaprio is back with a new album jam-packed with upward and outward wispical other-worldliness in her third album, aptly titled, Somewhere Else. We were immediately drawn to All of My Life, which instantly sounded familiar. And it should. Back in the summer of 2011, this same track surfaced on Soundcloud, but was credited by Chart Music, featured a different vocalist, and a slightly different arrangement. We were mesmerized by it and immediately posted it, but nearly as quickly as we embraced it (and desperately sought to purchase it), the track mysteriously disappeared, seemingly forever, until now. Sally does a decent job at the cover and even infuses it with a little “rap” near the end.

Sally Shapiro feat. Electric Youth – Starman

January 16, 2013

SALLYSHAPIROSTARMANv02
It’s a musical collaboration that could only made by the musical gods; Electric Youth has teamed up with Sally Shapiro for the new single, Starman. The song will appear on Sally Shapiro’s long awaited forthcoming album, Somewhere Else. Like previous other-worldly single, What Can I Do, Starman takes us on a whimsical journey upward towards the stratosphere and into the glow of stars. Best of all, writer/producer Johan Agebjorn is offering the single, guilt-free, simply by signing up on the mailing list. You know what to do…

Sally Shapiro – What Can I Do

November 17, 2012

It’s been awhile since we have posted on bop2pop so it seems only fitting that our return coincides with the reemergence of one our musical idols, Sally Shapiro. What Can I Do contains the same whimsy whispy sublime vocals we leave us mesmerized, but this time out it is paired with a sunny and organic arrangement (flutes and guitars, oh my). The track will be taken from the forthcoming album, Somewhere Else, due out early next year. We are also including the just leaked Com Truise remix.

Sally Shapiro – Miracle

November 21, 2011

We are so excited that italodisco goddess Sally Shapiro has made the Swedish remix of Miracle, off of one of our favorite albums of 2009, Guilty Pleasures, available to download for free. The remix used to be available only through Beatport, an excellent site to get remixes. The track was written and produced by Johan Agebjörn, who we have talked a lot about lately because of his excellent Cassablanca Nights album, which features the vocals of Sally Shapiro on a few of the tracks. This remix is the perect mix to weather out a thunderous storm.

Marsheaux – Can You Stop Me (Cicada Mix)

July 14, 2011

bop2pop favorite Marsheaux have enlisted the help of (or were discovered by) Cicada to create this wonderfully breezy beautiful mix. Cicada have released some of our favorite songs (The Things You Say, One Beat Away) and we are optimistic that this may be the single that will win them the massive audience they truly deserve. Sadly, this mix seems cut short (it is taken from Cicada’s Soundcloud page), so hopefully a full version will become available soon (we will replace it).

As a bonus, here is Marsheaux’s new remix to another bop2pop favorite, Sally Shapiro . Check out an excellent interview from the elusive star on Art-opology.

Johan Agebjörn & Le Prix (Feat. Fred Ventura & Sally Shapiro) – Alice (Energy Mix)

July 5, 2011

Johan Agebjörn is back with a third single off his excellent debut, Cassablanca Nights, and is enlisting the help of his muse, Sally Shapiro along with Fred Ventura for Alice. We are especially taken in by the Energy Mix by Anton Orlov, who perfectly captures the italo disco feeling of the original. Unfortunately for us, this mix is only available on an extremely rare 12″ vynl format (how old skool) from Disco Evolution. It’s a definite MUST HAVE for collectors.

Chart Music – All My Life

Chart Music – All My Life

June 13, 2011

Bleeping synths, soft vocals and the italo-disco revitalized sound that we at bop2pop simply love, All My Life is the debut single by Chart Music, which is the new project of Roger Gunnarsson and Le Prix. Not much else is known about this, and although it sures sounds as if Johan Agebjörn and Sally Shapiro are somehow involved, we actually think this sounds more like Cloetta Paris. Pure pop bliss, that we at bop2pop, simply have to have! Are you hearing us guys?

Johan Agebjörn & Lovelock feat. Sally Shapiro – Casablanca Nights

May 9, 2011

Swedish DJ/Producer Johan Agebjorn, who is responsible for producing Sally Shipiro’s Brilliant Disco Romance and My Guilty Pleasure albums is set to release his own debut album, Casablanca Nights on Paperbag records. This title track once again reunites him with his muse, Sally Shapiro and the italo-disco sound we have fallen in love with. Cassablanca Nights is an excellent track that could easily fit on any Sally Shapiro album.

Tesla Boy – Rebecca

March 28, 2011

Russian?! Synthpop band, Tesla Boy released one of the best albums within its genre last year, and third single, Rebecca came out earlier this year. I am not a big fan of compiled concert videos (are you hearing me Goldfrapp and thrown together, Believer?), because it screams “copout” in terms of production and concept, but I am willing to overlook it since this is a band you probably haven’t heard of, but if you are a synthpop lover, and hey, you probably wouldn’t be here if you weren’t, is worth checking out.

And here is their remix of ultra icy cool Sally Shapiro, Miracle
