Fotonovela ft. James New (Mirrors) – Romeo & Juliet

March 27, 2013

Fans of Mirrors and Marsheaux rejoice, Marsheaux producers, Fotonovela have teamed up with former Mirrors band-mate, James New for Romeo & Juliet. We are happy to report it sounds every-bit of a hybrid of both bands as you would hope to expect. The track will appear on the forthcoming sophomore Fotonovela album, due out this year.

Chapel Club – Good Together

Chapel Club - Good Together

Sure to infuriate and alienate fans of their dark and foreboding debut, Palace, Good Together marks a radical shift in sound with the band venturing into 90s synthpop-lite territory. This, of course, suits us just fine. Damn be the naysayers.

Apollo Gets the Girl – Kitten

March 27, 2013

Synths and keytars define this brand of cinematic and psychedelic indie-synthpop from Glasgow’s, Apollo Gets the Girl. Their new single, Kitten, starts off fine, but really starts to shine during the second half, with its blast off – take no prisoners, blissed-out, space-age synths.

Soldout – 94

March 27, 2013

Soldout have been riding the bop2pop “on-our-radar” wave, releasing one quality infectious track after another, with their latest, 94, no exception. The track appears on the Belgium duo’s highly recommended album, More.

Sensual Harassment – Out There

March 27, 2013

We have featured our virtual friends, Sensual Harassment, a few times before; once for their remix work for Strangers and again with their own funkopolis opus, Disco Heart. They recently contacted us about their new ep, Escape From Alpha Draconis so we gave it a spin and were immediately drawn to the OMD-ish sounding, Out There. Be prepared to blast off!

Sally Shapiro – All My Life

March 27, 2013

Italio-disco disco darling, Sally Shaprio is back with a new album jam-packed with upward and outward wispical other-worldliness in her third album, aptly titled, Somewhere Else. We were immediately drawn to All of My Life, which instantly sounded familiar. And it should. Back in the summer of 2011, this same track surfaced on Soundcloud, but was credited by Chart Music, featured a different vocalist, and a slightly different arrangement. We were mesmerized by it and immediately posted it, but nearly as quickly as we embraced it (and desperately sought to purchase it), the track mysteriously disappeared, seemingly forever, until now. Sally does a decent job at the cover and even infuses it with a little “rap” near the end.

Space March – You Are Electric

March 27, 2013

spacemarch electric

Back in in late 2011, Space March released Monumental, which went on to be one of our favorite albums of the year. We are happy to report, Space March (a/k/a Craig Simmons) is back with yet another delectable clump of sugary electropop-flavored cotton candy, Mountain King. Our choice for choice cut is You Are Electric which we like to think of as a sexier Julian Brandt portraying an intergalactic cowboy with Kraftwerk at the controls. Electrify me. Electrify you.
