A mix has a myriad of purposes. Sometimes the mix simply extends a song. Sometimes a “hot new” remixer uses it on an established artist to raise his/her profile. Sometimes it’s used strictly for the dance floor. But every once in awhile, something magical happens. The mix completely reinterprets a song, and by doing so, introduces it to a new audiance. This is the case with the RAC remix of Natalie Walker‘s, Cool Kids. It actually makes it “cool”. The original ventures dangerously close to ground already covered by Dido, but the mix increases the tempo and makes it on the playlist for hot summer days, riding in a convertible with the top down, wearing sunglasses and feeling a breeze against your skin.
